Disposal Technology Options - review and update of treatment technology:
IHPA contribution to the African Stockpile Programme:
authors John Vijgen and Patrick Dyke: July 2008
This report 'Disposal Technology Options review and update of treatment technology, under the African Stockpile Programme' aims to provide an update to previous reviews of technology for obsolete pesticide destruction and is based on practical field experience with obsolete pesticides waste, in addition to guidelines and other decision making tools that have been collected. Specifically it has to be mentioned that obsolete pesticides (OPs) can include the POPs pesticides, but these may only a minor part of the total obsolete pesticides. read more / download -

- John Vijgen, IHPA director, and Roland Weber (POPs Environmental Consulting), IHPA ambassador, have been co-authors in Green Science Policy Institute Report:
Methods of Responsibly Managing End-of-Life Foams and Plastics Containing Flame Retardants, March 2017.
Summary: Millions of tonnes of foams and plastics containing flame retardants including Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are discarded or recycled at end-of-life, resulting in ongoing hazards for human and ecological health. We convened a series of workshops, funded by National Science Foundation and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and compiled a report to inform policy decisions, scientific research and funding.
