John Vijgen, IHPA director, and Roland Weber (POPs Environmental Consulting), IHPA ambassador, have been co-authors in Green Science Policy Institute Report: Methods of Responsibly Managing End-of-Life Foams and Plastics Containing Flame Retardants, March 2017.
Summary: Millions of tonnes of foams and plastics containing flame retardants including Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are discarded or recycled at end-of-life, resulting in ongoing hazards for human and ecological health. We convened a series of workshops, funded by National Science Foundation and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, and compiled a report to inform policy decisions, scientific research and funding.
